Since the greater majority of those who get into this industry are not the greatest actors and those behind the cameras are not the best story writers, any story or plot usually ends up being trash & a waste of time.

Go back into the 70s, 80s and 90s when they actually tried to put stories into these things and you'll see they all suck. There's literally no suspension of disbelief. At best, you'll get a laugh out of it, but that's not exactly why most watch porn.

So why not just skip it all and just get to what everyone is wanting to see?

If one wants a good story and good acting, watch a movie or TV show. If one wants the other kind of entertainment, you know what to do.

Sure it'd be great if both the movie/tv industries and porn industry could just be more fluid and get the best of both worlds in one sitting, but that will never happen.

Generally, no. But sometimes it can add a little something. Certain genres probably see more of a benefit, though, both on the more... okay, there probably IS a word for it, I just don't know it, but the side where the kink being catered to is not directly related to sex, AND the more wholesome kind, where the actors are trying to convey that this isn't just fluid-swapping to them.
