Why doesna guy whos a complete asshole to me pay attention and hear everthing I say and want to hear it?

Now i am quiet and shy and sometimes i say things nobody hears. But this douchebag at work will ask me to repeat myself. If me and another person in the group at work say something at once, he will make sure to ask me to repeat myself right after he responds to them or whatever. I don't know.

Its like he's attentive in that way and its ironic because he values me so little.
