Is picking your nose a turn off?

Is picking your nose a disgusting and/or turn off?  If it is how does a person get rid of the habit?

If you have the habit, and hate being embarrassed, get your friends to call you out on it. One of my friends had the habit (still does, a bit); but cut way down once I started calling him out on it. He was pissed, but he had told me that if he was doing embarrassing stuff, I was to call him out on it in public.

I was a thumb sucker. Bad habit. Lasted a long time. I saw a video of me in the background, doing it. That stopped me.

I had a bad habit of saying "I believe so" or "I think I'd like..." Few people started making comments. Got me to take notice, and I cut way down.

But - you want to make sure it's OK to do this in private beforehand. or tell others that they have your permission. And you want to do this with friends you trust - people who won't badmouth you for trying, or constantly bring it up after you do it.

One friend had the bad habit of cussing; so he gave his small group of guy friends permission to punch him in the arm as hard as they could if they caught him cussing. Few times of having a sore arm, and he was "cured" of his cussing habit.

Well from a guys point of view, many of us don't mind it at all if you just don't wipe it off on your body or eat it.

Most girls think its disgusting and should only do it in private, no idea how that ever works. They might wait until they get home and dig for glory, while trying to survive the itch to pick their nose.

I myself when I have to dig for green gold I put a cloth over my nose and mouth and get into Dig Dug mode to find that irritating booger and wipe it on the cloth when finished.

I find it both a turn off and disgusting. But everyone does it so what you do in the privacy of your home is your business, but nobody wants to see you mining for gold in public. As long as your not wiping it somewhere that I might touch, you're fine.

Yeah it really is. When you get the urge just excuse yourself and go to the bathroom or somewhere private. But you should start using a tissue at home instead of picking your nose. After a while you will get used to using the tissue and you won't feel the urge to pick your nose anymore.

You have to admit, everyone does it.

Yes, it is a turn-off when I see someone just doing it. It would be nicer to have you do it in the bathroom. It's nice to have a clean nose, but please do the picking in private.

It's a good habit to clean your nose, but it should be done properly with a tissue in the bathroom or something; it shouldn't be done just because and in public where others can see you.

I think that most people do it, at least from time to time. A tissue is preferable, but sometimes a tissue doesn't do the job (for example, the mucous can get really dry and crusted in there). I don't see a problem with it, as long as you do it in private and wash your hands afterward.

as long as it's not in public, I'll be alright with it.

picking our noses is natural. we aren't gods and goddesses. we are apes. we are animals. so of course it's natural.

Also, I've heard that eating our boogers is good for our immune systems XD. not sure if that's true or not... but it looks right.

I think lots of people find that a turn off :S though understandably everyone picks their nose sometime :) as for stopping it I'm not sure of the right way to do that :/ Just...resist the urge to pick it? :S Think of how others won't like it :)

Yeah, for sure it's a turnoff. Carry around some tissues in your pocket or even some Q-tips; they can be handy especially if you need to go digging. If you feel the need to continue to pick your nose, at least do so in a private area.

not at all, its better out than inside, buggers carry diseases and stuff like that, it shows that you are a clean person, not like those dirty people that keep inside. By picking up your nose, you show great higiene habits.

Just grab a tissue and blow your nose. If you know there's a boogerthats hanging, you can blow it out, if you can't blow whatever is in your nose out, other people probably can't see what's inside.

Um yeah do it in private. It's pretty gross and for me, it's a turn-off. Oh and don't eat your boogers :% -gag-. Just blow your nose more often I guess.

I think at first when I am not close to the person I might be grossed out a little bit.  But then as time goes on and we are serious and maybe dating for a long time or married (which I am now) then that stuff isn't that big of a deal.
