I am crazy about a guy named Jake. We hook up but Jake said he does not want a girlfriend. Although I know Jake is attracted to me- he often acts disinterested and aloof towards me. The other night at the bar, a hot guy named Anthony, that Jake and I both know had begun hitting on me in front of Jake. We then began to kiss in front of Jake. To my surprise, Jake got up from his seat and went crazy trying to break us up on the down low. He started acting all jealous. Jake followed me around the bar like a sick puppy dog. Do you think this MOST LIKELY means that deep down Jake has some kind of liking/affection for me? Or do you think his behavior was primarily about his self-esteem and ego, and nothing to do with me really.

Wow. Your last question at the end of your write-up is a good one.
There's really no way to know this. You can guess but it would merely be a guess, an assumption. The only way to truly know is to know this guy for years, find out what goes on inside his head.

And a problem is that naturally females want to think that it's because the guy has real feelings for her. Jealousy comes out of some level of caring about the person.
But it can also be a territorial thing. He wants to own you, in a way, but he is not making any commitment to you. He wants the benefits of the sexual you, while giving nothing else in return.

The main takeaway here is that you don't have to put up with a guy who's just using you for sex.

But I know that's not really what you want to hear. You want to decode his behaviour. But no one can. Maybe not even you, based on this one action.

To find out if he really likes you, you cut off the sex, tell him "no more hookups." If he comes back to you, continues to reach out, then you meant more than just sex to him.

My advice? Fuck this guy. Meaning, stop fucking this guy, and go find a new, better, guy. Someone who likes you for more than just what he can't have because some other now has it.
