Giving a guy your number, name on a piece of paper?

Is it weird to give a guy who has complimented you a few times in passing at the gym a piece of paper with your name and number on it? I don’t see him often but he’d stare at me a lot and I just want to see if he’s interested. I kind of dig him and want to see where it could go.

I think that is a good idea to do. Or maybe ask him to help you out with something. A spot or adjusting a machine.

I wrote a note to a mom at my work one day, thanking her for being so patient and understanding. In return she wrote her friends name and number on my note and gave it back to me.

Yes it's weird. If he's complimented you several times then he's almost certainly interested. Just approach him and talk to him instead of being all awkward and high-schooly about it.

I’m ridiculously shy and introverted. It’s a personal struggle I try to plow through. The thing is sometimes we’re not in super close proximity and I’m sure he doesn’t want to seem like a creep especially at the gym. Also he looks like he’s always working on his laptop if he’s not working out. I don’t wanna interrupt.

If he's already complimented you several times AND he stares at you a lot, then he's willing to take the risk of looking like a creep. And honestly, we need to get away from this whole "creep-shaming in the gym" thing. It just leads to situations like the one you're in. He's already taken the first step, so you wouldn't be interrupting him. Next time he compliments you, try to start a conversation. See where it goes.

Also he seems to have backed off a little bit. Maybe cuz he’s busy on his laptop but before he used to gaze at me for a long time and didn’t take his eyes off. Maybe he’s been seeing me more and not as surprised I don't know.

I guess I was confused why he complimented me and seemed seriously interested. Because, and I mentioned this in another comment, I don’t really have looks like most men like gawk at. I’m very thin and tall, kind of flat butt, long hair redhead and pale.

I actually thought about it more and don’t think he’s interested. After he complimented me that one day I said “thank you” back he doesn’t really look at me as much and I looked his direction the other day and he looked away. Sometimes he steals glances but I don’t think it means anything.

Well ya, if all you said was "thank you" then you didn't really show any interest in him. That was just a generic, polite response you'd give to anyone. If he's still stealing glances at you, then you're still on his radar. I honestly think he's just pulling away because he doesn't want to cross into creepy/desperate territory when his small advances haven't yielded anything.

He has seemed interested. He told me I’m gorgeous one day and the other he followed me to the resting station thing and told me I have pretty hair. Most guys at the gym don’t do that.
