I met this guy when I was 14 and he was 18. We were friends and we were attracted to eachother but none of us did a move. I was too young and also we were focused on school.4 years later I started Uni so I tried to enjoy the new chapter of my life. We were barely talking. Meanwhile I started dating and got into a serious relationship. Eventually I broke up cause that guy did me dirty. Cheating. Anyway my long lost friend popped in again and I find out he got out from a 2years relantionship too. Of course, we reconnected and we proceed to hang out again. I must admit I was kinda toxic. Couldn't trust anyone. Emotional damage, y'all 🙃 So guess what happend next? Yeah.. I started dating him. He was so in love with me. I wasn't healed. I was too numb to feel anything at that moment. While he was planning our entire life together, I was thinking about escaping. I felt overwhelmed.. so I ran away for a whole year in another country. He understood my point of view and he waited for me to get over it and come back. To him.365 days passed really quick and he was so excited. I was feeling better but still had some issues deep inside. Came home, had the perfect summer with him. He went back to planning our life. Asking me how would I react if I ll get to be his fiance. Guess what, got cold feet again! Run. I guess didn't want to put my heart on the line or immature much? So bought a ticket one way and I let him know about that just one day before the flight. He was mad and dissapointed but still drove me to the airport. We decided our thing will go on but he was cold. He would just dissappear for 3days. I never got mad. I knew he was with someone else. That's when I understood how much I loved him. I wanted to fix things. Took a flight back to him. He admited he was cheating and we broke up. 6 years have passed and we still randomly bump into eachother. Life is not giving us a break. He reaches out from time to time. We can't let go. Wth?

The answer to your question: yes. But the situation you're describing sounds like you only "realized" you liked him when he found someone else. To me it sounds like you enjoy receiving his attention. He's your parachute. You know he's there when you need him. Would you like to be loved that way? A just in case scenario in order to not feel alone? Let him go and work on yourself hun
