I think its dumb, its not geniune, if you're doing that you're expecting a reaction and thats needy.
If you're just joking around and you like to fuck with people, thats another thing, and it will come across as funny because it comes from that place.

I'm not a big fan of trying to manipulate others. I'd rather just be as genuine and attractive as I can be without trying to push others into liking me. If they need me to neg them to have a normal conversation with me, then they don't like how I'm coming across, and instead of negging them maybe I can change how I'm coming across? Just a thought.

I absolutely hate it; it erodes trust in the relationship, makes me resent being around you, and will invariably result in me weighing the pros and cons of dealing with you and eventually deciding that you are more trouble than you're worth.

It is one of the lowest forms of playing there is, yes it can work and it is a slippery slope from slight humour to fucking narcissistic.

Within Social Engineering it’s a pretty good approach with some people to get them to do what you want.

It does not work with every person, however that’s why you learn to read people and elicit information to see if they are likely to be open to it.

you can use it to link up with emotional anchoring, which is part of a more narcissist approach to things.

For example doing a Negg and then saying sorry or similar and doing the physical anchor of giving a hug, then repeat later on to condition the person to this behaviour.

No, I don't do negging.
I can't imagine it ever working out, and I frankly don't want to date the kind of woman on whom it would work.

I do tease women a little however, but not in order to put them down.
You tease them in order to establish your confidence, banter telegraphs that you feel confident enough in your appeal that you don't need to suck up to a woman.
Being too nice and polite risks you coming across as a pushover who doesn't have that social dominance that women look for.

To me it seems like guys who use negging are just compensating for some insecurity. I prefer gentle teasing mixed with sincere affection and words of affirmation. If she's being especially dramatic or trying to use behavioral tactics to engineer "good behavior" from me, then I'll call it out more directly, but will return to being light and playful if and when she drops the act.

I do know men use a technique to lower self esteem to control women. It is a technique used by pimps to recruit prostitutes. Examples are, you are ugly, you are stupid. You are lucky that I like you because no one else would. Once the self respect in crushed, control is acquired.

I like some degree of friendly teasing and humor (my wife and I both like to tease each other a lot and we were like that even when we first met) but negging seems downright cruel and mean and far too calculated.

I've done it to cocky girls that are conceited in order to knock them down a little bit. It definitely works. They weren't as cocky and conceited after utilizing negative compliments consistently with them. They eventually stopped and instead begged for positive reinforcements.

There's this woman I work with that nobody liked because she did a bad job, had a bitch attitude and was just generally a disrespectful person.

I started negging the shit out of her for it and oddly enough she started acting like something resembling a human being and now people invite her out after work more often.

Pretty girls are usually so full of themselves and believe they are all 10’s and if you point out something they are slightly insecure about, it brings them down a peg and they want so desperately to win your attention that it makes them work for it.
