Why does he date me if I‘m not his type?

I had a few dates with a man and had a good time. but the last time he randomly told me that his type is usually brunettes. I‘m blonde. why did he tell me that and does it mean he‘s not that into me? He has told be before that I‘m beautiful though but I feel a bit insecure and confused now.

With women, they're "type" is usually set it stone it seems, where with us, it doesn't mean other types are out of the question completely. Sometimes women we don't think are our types, become our type. He obviously sees something he likes in you, so that's why. But, personally I'd never tell a woman this, and for some guys it's a manipulation thing to lower your self confidence, and therefore you won't look for someone else because you think you can't do better. But, it also may not be intentional, and more saying it because this is coming as a "surprise" to him? So yeah if I were a woman, I'd question if I wanted to keep dating them or not (just like if a woman said that to me/us).
