Do people ever unblock someone after they’ve had an emotional response to something b/c being blocked usually means being bothered?

Question

I’m not saying if you’re blocked, there’s hope for rekindling. But, there has to be some unblocking that happens, esp when things ended on a good note and time has passed?

This applies to both guys and gals, even though in my case it’s a dude who had an emotional response and blocked me even though when things were going great - at least I thought they were great! Shrugs.

N. B. I wasn’t over-texting nor was I rude or obnoxious.

There might have been many reasons for blocking you. Here you talk about an emotional response, so I think he got really offended or disappointed for something. I see from your profile you're 32 so I find it really pathetic and riddiculous that someone around your age "blocks" a contact over an emotional response like a teenager. Probably it's not such a loss, afterall. I'd be extremely put off by a thing like this, because it shows how this guy uses passive aggression to communicate a problem, requesting empathy/attention and perhaps making you feel guilty for something, through silence. That's just hilarious... Unless he is not tech-aware at all because much older and doesn't know that blocking generally communicates sudden strong rejection to the other person.
It also tells about his ego: he decides to preserve his honour by not letting you contact him anymore. And you're not being a toxic person (I guess) he needs to stay away from, to preserve his mental integrity, right? It also tells how he easily makes expectations, I guess. Well, in any case I find it disturbing and if you "accept" him back like if nothing happened, sure you'd show to be a caring and more mature person than him, but at the same time it also tells him:"Yeah, you can be a crazy weirdo any time you want, and abuse of my empathy you request to me with your random extreme methods". Maybe it's not a threshold you increase after only 1 episode of these, but 2 would be already setting the "rules" in this way.
Now, about your question: yes, people who block over an emotional response have chances to unblock you. Because the block itself puts a strict end to a relation flow that was probably a routine before or anyway was kind of settled somehow, so when he calms down he'd be driven to be back to the thing he was enjoying regularly before. But he won't if he is very proud. Or if he is very, very angry, to the point of being grudgeful for weeks. He could also unblock you just to make sure you feel guilty or miss him, in some ways.
Well, either way this thing itself is cringe, he could have just normally told you what's wrong and discussed about the thing that triggered him that much. And a red flag I'd personally take as a dealbreaker even in a friendship-only.

Well.. I've never had someone unblock me. At least not that I know of. But, I have a friend who got blocked by a guy she was seriously talking to. He got caught lying about something, panicked when he was confronted and blocked her. After several months - maybe even a year, he unblocked her, they started chatting again and he acted like nothing happened. She never brought it up again because she was afraid he'd block her again. I would say that's not a healthy dynamic to have with someone. Where you can't acknowledge something that was hurtful for fear of being completely cut out of their life.

I've never been much of a blocker; the only actual person in my life (as in, not a scammer or bot or a-hole stranger) that I've blocked was my ex the night we broke up. Partially out of anger, but mostly because in the moment I thought it'd be a good idea in order to be exposed to less of her and thus get over her sooner. I did end up changing my mind later, though, and we spoke a couple times since then but that's it. Point being that yes, it can happen.

I block people all the time because I dont see any point in interacting with people who I am simply never going to agree with, its a waste of time.

I make one attempt, some times exchanging for hours but ultimately if they are incapable or unwilling to understand what is being said to them etc then they are done.

Blocking and unblocking are not usually good idea's, cause soon as someone knows they are blocked the other will block them too and so when the first unblocks, it won't matter.

It depends on the person though, some block and never look back or think about it again, others will unblock after awhile.

I unblock people all the time. Sometimes users act like assholes and jerks and a break is needed. Then when they want to act like a normal human being they usually reach out and want to make amends.

I don't hold grudges so I'll unblock but if they're on the same nonsense they just get reblocked. And the cycle starts over again.

I try to keep emotion out of it. Usually if I block someone it's because they're being derogatory. We can disagree. And I'm totally willing to agree to disagree. But you don't get to cast insults. That's a block. And if it bothers the person enough that they get another G@Ger to talk to me and they're willing to apologize yeah I'll unblock them. But otherwise there's no reason to. If a person can't act civilly then they should find themselves alone after a while. Maybe they'll learn from it.

There are social media blocks and then there are phone blocks. I use very little social media but have been known to block people. Same with my phone. When I block generally I block into perpetuity! Also, I don't block someone for the content of their messages. I block for the amounts and time frame of said messages.

Sometimes you might trigger bad thoughts without it making sense to you. But if I did that, I would unblock as soon as Im fine, apologize and explain why you shouldn't try an action that triggered again

I don't block people because of an emotional response. I block them because they cross a line or because they're creepy or because they're spammers, or because they blocked me first. I've unblocked a very few on the basis of "good behaviour".
