If so, it's not a guy thing. I mind double texting, I find it annoying. My brother on the other hand, double and triple texts all the time. So gender doesn't have much to do with it, I think.

The best solution to this is to call them. If you call someone twice and they don't pick it up, don't do it again. Let them call back
