Liking pics on Insta (Guys Help)?

Been talking to this guy for two months. Before we started talking he would like all my pics , and now he commens on them via texts , but doesn't like them. When I asked why didn't he like my pic, he said I have to earn it... Bit confused.. What does this mean? Is it some game that I dont know of?
