Guys, do you usually act and feel awkward towards a female friend that you chat almost everyday?

I have this male friend of mine for years whom I think seemed to be pretty close to me. Although we don't really hangout (like never) he chats me almost everyday, play online games with me sometimes, sends me random memes / things that he knows I like, or videos of his pets. Like, he's very random. He would chat me throughout the day if he sees something I like on social media and so on. One time, he visited me to ask me for a favor. I was kinda excited since it's been a while since I've met a friend of mine. I didn't know why but he was so awkward; WE were so awkward. I was trying to make a conversation and his head was mostly bowing our entire conversation then I also felt awkward. After that meeting, it's as if it never happened. He's just the usual. I think it's impossible that he likes me since as far as I know, he used to like a friend of mine (well, he didn't tell me but it was obvious). I'm still a little bothered by what happened since it never got that awkward with my other male friends.

P. S. He's a really noisy and funny guy.

At his age unfortunately he probably has zero self-confidence when it comes to girls and has no flirting moves and feels awkward. All of this comes later for guys. As for whether or not he likes you, not much to go on from you said. He might be hiding it or he's got you in the friend zone.
