Guy I’m talking to told me I look stupid? Is this rude or playful banter?

He said that he just meant it as playful banter between friends. I said that i think it was rude and he should apologize but he said it’s just banter. I don’t know if it’s his was of flirting because he always teases me, but has never gone as far as calling me stupid

It was rude, and he said because he's a dumb boy who doesn't know yet how to talk to girls. He'll learn eventually.

Try to cut him a little slack. If he apologizes nicely, continue conversing with him.

(P. S. Boys will say, "Girls are so sensitive!" but they don't want to often acknowledge that they are being harsh, compared to the female world which we inhabit. As teenagers, and early-mid twenties, there are quite different.) Boys need to soften up, be more tactful, and girls need to toughen up, have more of a sense of humour.)
