Don’t people understand how hard it is to become successful?

I lot of people on here think they’ll become very successful and wealthy.

I’ve seen how people very close to me have amassed fortunes and it’s extremely hard and long. There’s also a time and place

It’s also much harder in this day and age. Before you know it half of the population won’t ever own a home.

I think the age at which you understand how hard it is is really rather important.

What's equally important is that some people might make a fortune in one culture but not in another - it's not a given that each country rewards people identically.

In the US if you bought Bitcoin at under $1 and sold at $50k you might have turned $1000 into $50m. One purchase and one sale about 10 years apart.

But the knowledge to buy Bitcoin at under $1 and the timing to sell it at $50k might have taken 10 years to acquire.

Alternatively, you might just have been supremely lucky in hearing about it from a friend and simply taking a punt.

I think people don't understand.

However, it is easier than ever to become successful. Not in the traditional way (getting a 9-5, putting money in savings account, buying a house), but because of the internet you can learn any valuable skill from home if you're disciplined and dedicated.

Depends on where you start, the hand you're dealt and the drive/discipline you can muster. Luck also plays a role
