I don't remember it, which is unusual for me, given the genre and Gosling, one of my favourite acting talents. (I don't even think he's good-looking here, too young, yet. But he's always had talent.)

"This is probably one of the best films about a love story that doesn't work out. When two people divorce, others like to believe or assume that the two never truly loved one another. It's definitely hard to fathom that two people can start their relationship as beautifully as every other Hollywood romcom leads us to believe, and then take that relationship, that connection, that bond to a very dark place. Don't disregard this as mere Hollywood fluff. It's not. It has very genuine, non-formulaic writing. And it shows just how difficult relationships truly are; no sugar-coating (though it's all in a very slick, good-looking package, without a doubt.) I like that this depicts some of the realities of dating and relationships. People make mistakes, people get hurt, people do stupid things, but we can't all just give up on each other. Otherwise no one would still be together.

Other must-see classics:

• When Harry Met Sally (you learn a lot from this one, but you've probably already seen it. ? It teaches that women are actually your friends, not just your lovers.)
• How Do You Know (this looks like a typical big blockbuster, but it's actually very unique writing and dialogue. This'd be my second pick for you, if you like Reese, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson.)

• You've Got Mail (how to create love just over text)
• Love Actually
• Two Weeks Notice (a reassuring reminder that opposites can, indeed, find a way to be together)
• Sleepless in Seattle

But for more unique, off-kilter stories:

• Midnight in Paris (Woody Allen's most financially successful film; a mini masterpiece. Metaphysical, but there are things to learn here)
• This Is 40 (the realities of marriage; a great, great, film)
• Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (you won't exactly learn from this one; it's a metaphysical journey, about the pain of love, but also that the desire is so strong for it, we will knowingly go through it all over again)
• Goodwill Hunting (a broken young man, who needs people, and love, but pushes people away; it turns out well, though)
• The Long Shot (two politically different people come together, a very unlikely pairing, but I think it works beautifully; it will give hope to people who think they don't fill the typical mould; yet are very principled)
• Age of Adaline (not much to learn here; just a great, beautiful movie; learn to emulate the communication style and skill of the man she falls in love with - he is a master at it)
• Friends With Money (the good and bad of marriage; it's dark at times, but an interesting ensemble of characters)
• The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (how do you capture a free spirit? This is how)
• As Good as it Gets (Jack Nicholson is an OCD antisocial personality; it's a story of misfits, in a way. He learns compromise)
• We Don't Live Here Anymore (everything not to do in a marriage - two of them)
• All That Jazz (a cautionary tale about exactly what not to do; you'd have to like jazz dancing, for this one)
• Reign Over Me (how to move on after her death)

You shouldn't learn from movies about romance at all. That's how a lot of men are confused in this day. They emulate what they see in movies and it comes off as stalkerish and creepy. All it will do is push a woman away if you behave like the men in those movies.

Your best bet is to become own man and be authentic to your core values and what you say and do and desire. You may not pull all the women you like that way, but the right ones will be about you.

You need to date with intent and show you are different from the majority of men they know by embodying your masculinity and leading yourself to where your goals are.
