What he means is that virgins are highlt sought after by guys who have no respect for women. What he was saying is keep your Business to yourself. I think he had your best interest at heart. He does not want the wrong kind of guy tricking you into sex. We all know there are very charming men out there who are simply looking for a notch in their belt.
