This is actually called isopraxism, aka mirroring in psychology. Mirroring someone can be used to build rapport with people. If he’s doing it consciously, he’s trying to build rapport and gain your trust. Search up Isopraxism NLP or Mirroring Chris Voss. I’m personally trained in NLP so I’ve learnt all these techniques.
