What does it mean when a guy mimics your sayings/phrases?

This guy at my job seems to adopt a lot of my funny sayings/phrases. Like i'll say something and the next day, he'll say the same thing in a conversation! Its strange because none of the other guys at my job do it except for this one other guy (at a lesser degree). I dont think he does it to mock me because he's pretty nice overall. Could it mean he likes me? We're both 18 by the way. Also when we have a great conversation, moments later he'll get kinda cold towards me and not talk very much then when i get the hint and back off, he'll get all warm again. What could that mean?

Pretty good sign he likes you. I do that to my crush.

-mimics sayings and phrases because he wants to seem more relatable to you (could just be subconscious)

-the cold thing is not him being cold, you just see it that way. Perhaps he doesn't wanna seem too desperate.
Or in extreme cases, if he's like me, he plans conversations in his head, then converses with you, then when he's gone through his "lines" he doesn't know what else to say unless you keep talking...

That makes sense i guess. its just frustrating because the conversation and some flirting will be going good then he'll just get quiet and i'm like what did i do? Lol how can i make too where he's more comfortable?

Don't think of everything as your fault.
And if you're at your job, are you sure he isn't just stopping the convo so he can focus on work? Cause that happens to me. I NEVER get breaks or lunches with coworkers I wanna talk to.

You're right, that could be it. Should i ask him to hang out or is that too forward? i just don't know my next actions should be lol.

You could ask him to hang out, but if you're too scared you can also take it slow: he will lead more and talk more once he feels his normal conversation skills are good enough to keep your attention. Smile and laugh a lot when you talk to him, bring up new topics when he stops talking and keeps smiling and laughing when he responds.

Asking to hang out would be a good idea. But, I did that with my crush, and we have hung out a few times but they were never "dates" per se. So now I'm stuck.
