This could be a number of things. He could have feelings for you but feels you don't feel the same, so is backing off you. He could simply not be attracted to you. He could be mad at you about something. Or maybe he did message you, you ignored it, and he is now waiting for you to reply back.

Why don't you send him a nice message and see how he responds, or if he responds.
