Is it embarrassing I said to a trainer / body builder I feel like most of them compete as a once in a lifetime thing?

He looked so offended esp when I said after it they don’t like maintain that physique he looked at me like I didn’t know what I was talking about PS a few of his clients do compete and he has competed too

Embarrassing and embarrassing, were you at all correct? Sort of, not really.

It is of course true that most body builder don't stay actively competitive for a lifetime or anything.

The part that probably made him think you're speaking out of the wrong end is the simple fact that becoming a bodybuilder that can compete realistically takes yeard, lets say roughly 5.

So 5 years of exercising 5 days a week and your comment basically states they lack perseverance, diligence and do not stick with it. It is perfectly understandable if he took offense.

Again had you spoken only of the competition and not insinuated they go lay on the couch after it might have been different.

Do you think he didn’t wanna correct me Cause he doesn’t wanna lose me as a client? I honestly would’ve appreciated him pointing out that I was wrong and explaining it

I rather think he did not feel the need to explain. If you are his client you will eventually come to realize the years of effort that go into body sculpting. It is one of those show instead of telling moments.

But again in terms of competitions you may be right. But bodybuilders are typically very diligent people. Not at all the types to abandon things halfway.
