Guys, Why did he stare at me like that?

I was at a work do & was talking to a male colleague who I get on well with and a new guy comes close to our table & starts talking to us and my colleague looked at the new guy then me & back & forth and then just gave me a long intense almost angry stare. Then another guy sat on our table in front of me and my colleague did the same thing again. I wasn’t even looking at them but he did the intense stare to me.
Why did he blatantly do this?

They were both new guys and we were encouraged to meet them for the first time so my colleague didn’t know them.

Actually yes the first one sounds about right. At another drinks he did it to the guy that I was talking to but at a distance so l am surprised that he did this to me this time & made it obvious to me…

We talk but I’ve never spoken to him about this… the fact that he made me aware this time means he clearly wanted me to know..
