Why do men give up a woman so easily?

So long story short I was talking to this guy and out of my fear and anxiety of him finding someone else even though we had a great connection with each other we are also long distance. But I thought he would actually try to convince me and ask me to stay and keep talking. But instead he gave up and just said he respects my decision. I'm guess I'm not that type of woman he would want to stay. Now I feel hurt, broken and just haven't been myself since then. I hope he knows I cried on my bedroom floor half the night over him though.

We are taught to believe that when a woman says no, that is the end of it, even if she says something like "you could find someone else" because when she says that she is probably just trying to let you off easy. So if you want a relationship with a guy you can't say no when he asks you.

Well a guy I was talking to I said we should stop talking for the sake he would find someone else before he ever got a chance to see me. Basically out of fear and anxiety that made me cause that decision. It's just I have low self confidence so I was sure his blind date this weekend is gonna be beautiful. So might as well save myself before he falls in love with her.
