Why do men let go of a good woman?

I've been with this man for a couple of months. I thought our relationship was so amazing. He would call and text me everyday. He would drive out to me to take me out, and I would drive out to him. He even had me meet his kids. He would say things like, "You're the best." "I'm so happy with you." "You're perfect for me." "You're beautiful and funny" etc..

One night we were only the phone, and he says "Man.. ever since I became a single dad, girls have been hitting me up." I told him calmly and maturely that I didn't want to hear that, that I know how women can be, and I told him that I did get a little jealous." He stopped talking to me not liking that i was the jealous type. It's a common feeling to be jealous.

Two days later he talked to me saying it was going to work.. that he was "messed up in the head." I was annoyed.. why would a man easily let go of a woman who was patient (3 kids and 6 days a week job), was so kind to him, showed all the love languages, told him he was important, etc. I honestly think he was just entertaining these other women.. also he probably has commitment issues since his ex wife left him with trauma.

He called me the next day, talking like we usually do like nothing happened. Then texted me.. i told myself that I shouldn't give him the time of day, and I stopped responding to him.

- Your instincts are sharp and that was my initial thought as well. I think he's just using being "messed up in the head" as an excuse to drop you. Let him have it, you don't need that.

I also think he's bullshitting about how since he became a single dad that chicks are all over him. Gotta be a big lie, because most single parents - moms and dads - tend to struggle with a lot of people not wanting to date them. He could've said that to you to try to make you want him even more knowing that women get jealous very easily when they like a man who gets attention.

- Yep, you're doing it right. You are obviously serious about dating/relationships, so you got not time for that nonsense. Wish him the best and move forward. You'll meet the right one somewhere down the line, trust me.

I don't understand. Do you mean the two days he didn't talk to you, means that he let go of you? Or do you mean that once you cut him off, he stopped pursuing you and you feel that this means he's letting go of you.

If it's the first, that doesn't seem reasonable. If it's the second, you might have to consider that he doesn't want to come off like a stalker or risk a restraining order for not leaving you alone when you're ignoring him.

If you’re too nice to the wrong people, they take you for granted. Then I’m my experience, they return when they can’t get anyone better, like they thought they could. You deserve to be someone’s number one option, rather than being their last resort. You did right. There’ll be others. If not, which is unlikely, you’re still better off happy and alone than unhappy and lonely, with the wrong man.

The 2 day emotional disconnect was a real disconnect. A big red flag. Anyone that completely disconnects with you like that, wasn't really connected to begin with. Good job dumping him. He'll just waste his time "date shopping" and in the end will die alone. Think of it as someone who wants to lose weight, but can't stop eating junk food.
