32 years ago, I was in love with this fantastic young woman; even by then I knew that I wanted to marry her. I was never obsessed with a woman taking my last name (she did take her eventual husband's last name). Anyway, I did NOT want her taking my last name because I wanted her to be her - not someone else. But, more so, she and my sister shared the same first name. My sister made it that there was already to many people with her name on it.

Isn't it odd that neither of them talk to me now.

Not really, because I don't care if she takes my last name, my mom never too my father's. Partly because she had all her medical degrees before they married and it'd be difficult to get them all changed. My other two aunts who got medical liscence did the same. So I don't care that much if she keeps her last name or changes it.
