We are just chatting on a dating APP everyday for 4 days and last time I asked him what he was doing and he sent a voice message saying “Dear, I am here, doing this” and saying what he was doing out with friends. bla bla bla.

For one thing, no one sends letters through "snail mail" anymore. When we wrote letters that were no business letters, we started with "Dear [first name],"

So, people don't have a tendency to use that phrase anymore unless it is a henpecked husband responding to yet another nag from his wife with a "Yes, Dear". In fact, CBS has a rather good sitcom titled "Yes, Dear" that ran for 6 seasons from 2000-2006.
