Crush said he wants the best for me?

Longtime crush randomly brought up that he wants me to open up. He knows I’m pretty reserved but he wanted me to talk about anything related to myself, him or anything because he wants the best for me. I can be a little…slow to understand sometimes so I’m struggling to understand how the two correlate. Does he want me to be open to help me out more? Or is he just saying in general he wants the best?

I haven’t been able to talk to him to re ask today so I wanted to get another opinion first

I agree with you that there's not necessarily a connection. On the one hand. On the other hand, I wonder if what he's trying to say is that -- hypothetically -- if someone is less reserved and more open, they might choose to do/see/enjoy more or try more experiences. Assuming that the premise of that is true (I don't think it totally is) then the logic would follow that by enjoying more and having more experiences, you would have the best.

If that's his thinking, I don't know that I believe that. Like, I can see the logic that I laid out there, but I don't know that's true for all people in that situation and I think it's a sketchy premise to begin with. Plus it's patronizing.

What I can't guess at is why he said that. Again, the assumption in my mind when someone says that is that you're not living your best life or don't have the best and that's absurd.

If you will open up then people will like you because “I the Crush” know you are a sweet and good person.
He likes you even though he does not know you. You obviously have “something” about you that’s unique for him to be so honest to you.

I don’t understand how the two correlate myself. He wants you to open up , but has he given you enough trust to open up? It kind of sounds like manipulation. What can he do for you that would put you at your best?

Like coffee love can be brewing or something else could be brewing as well. It seems like he want to get to know you a little more or he’s trying to help you with something.
