He let me go because he wasn't giving me what I needed he said I deserve better this was after I kinda gave him an ultimatum... I saw it more as a boundary, anyways he let me go Monday then Wednesday updated me on a trip he was taking then Thursday text me to tell me he made it... then Friday just to let me know he was ok not to worry then sat said gm and used my pet name then sent me a selfie... if he let me go why still contact me...

He may have meant that he can’t be in a relationship with you because he can’t give you what you need (to me that’s an excuse), but still wants to keep lines of communication open for if there’s benefit. Like if you’re hooking up, he still wants that.
