I've heard both sides of the fence: one side says the rich pay an insane amount of taxes, the other side say that rich people pay accountants to get them out of taxes. I think they're both correct. I'd much prefer to see the tax loopholes closed, and the stock ban placed on members of congress and their families. The IRS agents seem to be targeting the middle class and small businesses and I don't much care for that either.

When I took tax accounting in 1990 the prof had a retired IRS come in to lecture us. He said the IRS would rather go after 100 guys that owed a thousand dollars apiece than go after one guy that owed a hundred grand.

@exitseven a good friend of mine flips houses for a living; his father in law is the realtor. That's that only employees of the company. He's TERRIFIED of an audit and he's also the most honest and hardworking person I've ever met. I understand the purpose of taxes, and I personally see them as a bribe to the government to fill potholes and leave me the fuck alone. But to think the populous is being coerced into either foaming at the mouth with the injustice of untouchable overlords, or running interference for the same people.. why don't we instead seek to balance the budget of the pentagon for once? Or make sure those voting on business deals can't buy or sell stocks of that company hours before the bill is passed? I dunno. I'm content being an idiot. I just think it's all so silly.

The IRS has been weaponized against people who supported President Trump. If this guy is a small business owner he probably falls into that category.

With all the rhetoric that is spread around, I'd rather know the facts of what actually happens and for the budget to be balanced better. Enough with personal projects, provisions being added to bills that don't belong there, etc.
