It does trigger me because its bullshit, because the Trump Tax bill fucked me so hard. I mean I had four properties and I was paying roughly 24,000 a year mortgage interest and they capped it at 10K. I was paying alimony and Child Support and they made that non-deductible... and gave corporations a tax holiday.
But these DEMS are bullshit to, because even if they did tax the rich more, they will not lower my taxes... and when they say the rich you got to know there is a difference between the "rich" and "corporations". They are taxing the rich, but its the Corporations that aren't being taxed.
So its BS on the Republicans for protecting these Corporations, and its BS on these Dems who say tax the rich, when really they are doing the same thing Republicans are doing which is fucking over everyone else and pretending they are not, for cooperate gain.
Any argument that reducing taxes on Corporations is good for the economy, because they create jobs, and increase stock values is crap. They just got an all time tax cut, and the prices for everything is still going up (inflation) ... they create all these jobs, and still nobody can afford anything. And then you invest in their 401K plans and you earn pennies on the dollar for investment that you can't touch until your 60 years old, so by then inflation catches up to everything and then as you with draw it you get hit with the taxes, while for decades these corporation are really just reinvesting their own money through your 401k contributions back into their own corporate stock accounts, and are making 100's of 1000's on your money and only paying you pennies on the dollars from the profits and the Government collects tax's on it from you.
So its all BULLSHIT!
First I am not US citizen but the concept is universal so answering from that view.
While everybody agrees with it, everybody defines the rich as someone who earns more than they do. So it is not as universally agreed as might be thought.
Second taxing the rich is not so easy. Lets suppose there is a premium plastic surgeon who is earning squillions and you tell him he has to pay 90% tax above a certain threshold. There are quite a few things he can do to stop you getting that money.
First he can just work less and earn less than that threshold. You can't make him work or he might chose to do pro bono work and achieve reward in recognition.
Secondly he can afford to hire first class accountants and channel what he earns into companies. So now he will just pay the company tax rate unless u tax companies at 90%. You have just screwed your economy if you do because every company will move offshore.
Thirdly he can move off shore to a country with a better tax rate and better climate. After all he is so renown his patients will fly to him.
Despite tax brackets of up to 90%, the US has never been able to get more than 20% of GDP. Other countries can get close to 30% of GDP.
Tax The Rich doesn't the legs in reality.
Flat tax by percentage all the way with no deductions would be the way to make the rich pay their fair share. Deductions are ways for anyone, not just the rich to pay less in taxes.
It is why someone making more than me pays half as much in taxes, even though he only makes about 7k more a year... in the end he takes home more because he pays less in taxes. He gets to keep more of his earned money.
The government shouldn't be picking and choosing who pays more and who pays less, be it making single people pay more than those who make a choice, such as getting married or having children.
The government is punishing those who do not (or cannot) make those choices with higher taxes.
That would be the fairest way, no deductions and everyone pays the exact same percentage.
It would also make taxes way easy.
"Flat tax by percentage all the way with no deductions would be the way to make the rich pay their fair share."
A flat tax would mean the rich pay for less and everyone else would pay far more.
@WindAtMyBack My point exactly, now they'd be paying their fair share... instead of more than they should be, percentage wise.
Only a fool doesn't understand percentages... as it is the fairest and best way to do it. At least they wouldn't be able to use deductions to lower their percentage, no one would be.
Yea, I've done the math on it before, but I don't remember the numbers. I just know a flat tax would mean a massive tax increase for the average person.
No deductions also means the government can't control people's money.
I don't think it's so much that people don't understand percentages. It's that they don't bother to look in the first place. The IRS publishes a lot of data on how much tax the rich pay, but very few people bother to look at it.
@WindAtMyBack Your right, they wouldn't be able to control or try to force social changes without deductions.
They could in theory (won't happen) lower the tax rate and spending to match though.
The “rich” pay more than they should. Half of the “Top 1%” of filers are small businesses, those costs are passed onto us. Top 10% of taxpayers already pay 70% of the total taxes. 53% of tax filers pay zero, yet they receive federal benefits. The “rich” are already overtaxed in America.
The top 1% has gotten richer over the last 20 years and prices on everything have gone up higher than inflation. Those costs are not being passed down to us.
@Ironic_Method everyone has gotten richer in the past 20 years including the rich and the middle class. Many middle class workers now have $1 million in their 401K for retirement. Inflation ballooned only in the past year of the Biden administration. I’m far from rich, but my 401K grew 90% from 2017 to 2021. With $4 - $5 gasoline, higher natural gas costs, electric costs, we need back the energy independence we had under Trump. We’re paying Russia $1 Billion per day for oil and gas we could easily obtain in America. The executive orders of Joe Biden on day 1 of his “presidency” are the reason we’re in a recession plus high inflation. Congress continuing to borrow borrow and spend spend is compounding the problem
Oh... I'm sorry. I didn't know you were mentally ill.

Doesn’t really trigger me. I just think it’s a stupid idea. All these loop holes that people talk about are available to many of us, but many of us choose not to learn these strategies. Instead we’d rather complain about it that we want someone else to pay for us. Exactly what would we count as being rich? Even if the gov’t gave everyone thousands of dollars a majority of people would purchase some stupid thing they don’t even need. It’s a lack of education financially. So regardless of whether you make $30,000 or $100,000 a year if you don’t know how to manage it you’ll still be just as broke. Too many people start purchasing bigger things once they come into some money or get a raise. I’m not saying I’m rich but in the last 10 years my life has been better once I started listening ing to books on finances. I’m not living check to check like most people. I don’t feel someone who has spent many years of their life getting an education should be taxed more. They wanted a better life so that’s what they went after. I think the rich actually do pay more than the middle and lower income levels as it is.
The rich dont care !
raise their taxes and YOU pay more for the product.
EVERYTHING is about destroying the middle class.
I like a lot of you in GAG but…y’all suck at history and studies of human nature.
if ONE of you believes for ONE second that ANY politician actually cares about you…then you’re a pawn.
no government cares about their people. Not now, not ever. So vote for the liars that say they care or vote for those who will put more of your own freedom in your own hands.
No, but it's BS to trick stupid liberal people into doing stupid liberal sh*t. And no, I'm a conservative, in case you're thinking that.

https://nypost.com/2021/06/07/neekolul-roasted-for-2m-apartment-after-tax-the-rich-post/
I remember her. Chick from Texas with a fucking mansion sized apartment. She can rot. She went rambling about ''tax the rich'' and when people called her ass out on her $2 million apartment, she goes and says "I mean the billionaires..." No honey, YOU are included in this. Millionaires and billionaires are welcome to spend their money as they choose; they worked for it. But best believe they need to pay their dues as well.
I would say other because not always it´s the case that a rich person is born rich but he or she worked other than the rest.
So that way it rather seems like a punishment and preference for laziness over hard work. Everybody could be rich but not everybody will be rich because not everybody has the discipline and the motivation to put in the effort to get the job of becoming rich done.
So taxting the rich sounds easy but isn´t always the right way.
I´m not rich by the way I have an under-average wage but it´s a choice I made and I´m ok with it. I just don´t like the attitude of my fellow young people to blame others for their problems and them being poor and frustrated.
All people should pay taxes equally for they all wield the same power over the money spent.
Therefore to tax only or even mostly just one group of people is to create a kind of state slavery. Where one portion of the population lives entirely off the work of anther via their vote rather than their own. The net result is the "rich" either cease to be rich or find ways to corrupt and control the State.
Leaving us with an ever more abusive system of power and antagonize for both sides. Hence why state slavery of this sort is a lose-lose proposition. Your just empowering the worse of humanity both in and out of the Government by driving out the best and most productive.
yes because taxation is theft. every dollar taken from a citizen and by association society is another dollar the Government will waste. or "lose" i think the Government has "lost" over 10 trillion dollars in my 40 plus years on earth. Scientifily explained. people and business have positive incentive to use capital efficiantly. Governments have negative incentive. example. people and businesses have to sell products and services at the best value and price if they want to continue. Governments give the least value at the worst price. ever notice they tax for the roads but the roads are never fixed? they can't keep stealing money from you if the roads are fixed can they?
Basically what the left wants is to penalize you for being successful. Do that to me and I’ll fire everyone, close my doors, liquidate all my assets and move to a private island with this 🖕as my flag. Where will you get your money now? If they want to penalize for being successful then what’s the point of being successful when I can do nothing and get someone else’s money for free? This is what Margaret Thatcher meant when she said “the problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other peoples money.”
I think it only triggers people because democrats are saying it. If Trump said "tax the rich" his base would be thrilled. Of course it would also be the absolute end of his political career - the GOP would get very serious very fast about ejecting him from the party.
No. It triggers us because you have a rich Democrat from NYC wearing a dress half of America couldn’t afford going to the goddamn MET Gala telling other people about how awful the rich elites are.
Bitch you’re having cocktails with them! And then telling us WE’RE the selfish ones!
yes and so does her little anti-capitalism orgasms that she has while she's making a fortune off of capitalism. Anyone who listens to anything these people say is a dumbass. The rich ARE taxed. IF these liberals actually cared and wanted to change things, they'd close the loopholes but they won't, because they use the very same loopholes to avoid taxes themselves. :o
They preach all day and night now about the joys of socialism and "wealth re-distribution", but not one of them has distributed their millions to the rest of us. Actions speak louder than an ass full of empty words.
The people that say "tax the rich," usually pass policies that end up taxing the middle class and lower income people, NOT the rich.
Biden stopping USA based oil drilling is effective a HUGE tax on everyone, but it especially hurts the middle class and poor the most with higher gas and food prices.
The rich are taxed. What needs to end are loopholes they use to avoid paying their fair share
@purplepoppy
Hmmm... I think YOU would know! LOL!
It doesn't trigger me. It just makes the person saying it sound stupid. It's usually said by someone who thinks the rich pay little or no taxes, when in reality they pay massive amounts of taxes. It's usually said by someone who thinks the rich have far more money than they really have.
It's dumb. The richer you are, the more mobile you are. If you want to tax the rich heavily, they will just take their money and leave to a lower taxed location. They will strip your economy of their resources and invest in their new location every singal time.
My family made a living most of their life, because wealthy people that lived in New York City came to live in Florida for most of the year just to dodge New York taxes which are some of the highest in the nation when you live in the city. They then went back to New York City the other less than half of the year to exploit all of the services that the poor people paid for who lived there year round. That's how things work in the real world. I'm talking about people like the founder of Dunkin' Donuts, owners of large chocolate companies, heiresses to doll company fortunes, Adam Sandler's family, etc.
In contrast, people that are tied down with mortgages and kids in school or people working minimum wage jobs riding the bus to work can't leave. They have to stay and grind it out. They have to pay the taxes. Every time taxes go up it hurts the poor and middle class. It doesn't touch the rich, they just leave because they can.
Honestly I think that's why they spread so much hate against Florida in places like California and New York. It's because they want your dumbasses staying in the blue states to pay all the taxes to maintain their monuments to themselves. If you left, who would pay the taxes to maintain their shinny shit. They sure don't want to pay those taxes.
no, but we have a serious problem of wealth distribution that is getting worse and the consequences worse. we can all argue about the solutions and we probably should, were going to pay anyways. it's been going on a long long time so now it is more obvious.
It depends on the context - are we talking about Machiavellian crooks having non-unionized people slaving away on minimum wage, while they use every loophole in the world to hide their profits in foreign tax havens? Then, hell yeah, tax them, then publicly shame them, then tax them some more. 🤬
No. The rich are not the problem.
It's the fucking politicians enabling them with corporate welfare to back their political programs, that is the problem.
The problem with democracy, is that people have less power than corporations.
Has she ever publicly announced what she’s worth? And someone getting even the baseline salary for her job, she’s already doing better off than a lot of her parties base. And that’s not counting corruption money. I’m hoping that at some point she realizes how idiotic she looks and that when she is in fact the very elite rich that she is proposing to tax yet isn’t.
It’s funny how she paid tons of money to a rich (er) fashion designer to attend an elitist party.
For democrats it’s okay to be rich, entitled, spoiled and privileged IF and only if “say” the right things. No matter how much of a hypocrite you are.
“Do as I say not as I do….”
- liberal elitists.
It doesn't trigger me, I'm just super aware of the fact that rich people already pay an insane amount in taxes, and the extent to which they can be taxed further will circumvented by tax lawyers, or tranferred to the middle class by way of increased prices of goods.
No, that's basically the whole idea of sound governance. You have to find the balance between too much and not enough. People with more money get taxed more than people with less, but not so much that there is no incentive to get rich because you need rich people to tax and spend and then you tax the spending too.
It's the same as when people day tax the corporations. A corporation is a peice of paper in a filing cabinet, so when you tax a corporation your increasing the price of the goods or services they provide making the consumer pay more. So saying tax a corporation is the same as saying tax yourself.
So here's a better phrase to say, lower taxes for everyone.
Food for thought: even Bill Gates says the rich should pay more taxes
And yet he doesn't pay more taxes. Weird.
Indeed
so maybe he should shut the fuck up.
@Sirenboobzilla
By more, he means 2%, not 0%. He's rich enough that he could pay 90% and it wouldn't phase him.
MC Cheeta if you want me to see your brilliance, you have to unblock me. If you're talking shit, you're being a massive pussy.
it’s disingenuous because the very wealthy know how to shield their money from taxes as much as they can. I remember hearing an economist say they want to try to tax people with 8-10 figures of wealth but the people that actually get hit hardest are those that make 5-7 figures.
What triggers me are those that spout a load about what they "think" should happen when they have a tenuous grasp - at best - on economics.
Celebs should stick to what they know - pretending to be someone else, arts, etc. - and otherwise keep their yaps shut.
No. They're the ones that need to be taxxed more heavily than us everyday working Americans. All millionairs and billionairs could end poverty/world hunger 7 times over if they wanted to but they don't.
No, it makes me laugh because the rich have loopholes and while the politicians are rich they'll never close them
I have friends who have money and they utilise loopholes like business income reinvestment, non cash asset exchanges and loss deductibles
Steal the money I earned to better my “family” in every way. Go make your own successes you Leftist thief’s taking those taxes snd lining yours and cronies pickets. Communists are thief’s.. look at the Russian Oligarchs ‼️
Oooh kiddo, „communists“ and „Russian oligarchs“ are at the complete opposite of the economical spectrum.
Also, please stop using a plural apostrophe.
@DryGermanGuy Not from the "tax the rich crowd." That is exactly who they are stealing the collected resources of the people. You do not know your history... from Lenin forward in Soviet Union.
Just because the twists and turns of history saw to it that Soviet communism was followed by wild-West oligarchies does not mean they are similar. That’s like saying, lemon pie is similar to a bottle of beer just because they stand next to each other in my fridge.
those who putatively want to soak the rich really are saying that they want to be bribed by them in one way or another. The rich aren't easy to soak, so their real target is the middle class and small business owners.
It triggers me because it's plain stupid. America is a free market economy, therefore the government's job is to insensitive the creation of big business and thus create tax breaks for them. Otherwise, you don't have an America.
It only triggers me that the rich aren't taxed more. I'm in favor of a 1950's era progressive income tax system with a 95% top rate and few loopholes.
Not triggered :)
I just find it pointless. Whatever I need - I'll look after it myself.
I don't have faith in ''governments'' or in ''social fairness''
It's really the companies we should tax more not the people. Especially now when more and more is automated or done by the consumer.
Companies don’t pay taxes, they collect taxes, give them to the IRS, then raise prices to recoup that money. Plus when business taxes rise, people lose jobs,
The best fairest tax proposal I’ve read is the “fair tax”, a 20% tax at the cash register which everybody pays, even hookers, drug dealers, illegal aliens, the mafia. The IRS would no longer be needed. No way to cheat on your taxes. No cost for a business to comply with tax law,
But……. higher taxes will make American companies less competitive with overseas nations with lower taxes. Higher business taxes will cost workers their jobs, Some industries have a very small profit margin, and higher taxes could be the end of their business. A tax on business IS a tax on Americans because the tax costs are passed on to the end user. Fords taxes are reflected in the cost of a new ford car.
Well taxes were introduced for the rich and they found loopholes cause they think smart. And now they pay less taxes than someone with low financial knowledge
Eh, not really. The rich usually pay way more taxes anyway. Hence they go to poor countries and lead a digital nomad lifestyle and work as an independent contractor in order to not pay like 65% in tax but 6%.
If it’s a girl that says that it’s a Turn on girls that complain are hot 🥵 and fun to mess with depending on my mood
Like those Christian girls that attend church and talk about evil in the world
Back in school I used to smack a girls butt cause I knew she liked me and she called me evil while grabbing my dick was fully clothed during that I had my Dick sucked by her ounce she sucked my dick before class and while she was doing it she would call me evil when she came up for air so being called evil is a bit of a Fetish of mine
But I miss her so damn much She died in a car accident it was announced In class One day I never talk about her because it Hurts when I bring too much attention to missing her so I Put my feelings aside so I don’t feel them
Anymore.
Me and her were friends she was a Transfer and I never got to know her for long i knew her for a few months but she had to go out of town to attend her brothers Graduation 🧑🎓 and she never got to Go to the graduation because she got in the accident before she was even able to get there
Taxation is nothing but theft and I don't care how wealthy the victim is.
I wish i can cut the poor off our taxes and put them out in the streets. Ungrateful bastards. Why should you be entitled to my money? Because you're weak and poor?
No. But those who think the rich should pay for everything do. A lot of the "tax the rich" types are just angry about their own failures.
It is only a populist rant, where i live a person that earn more then 75000€ pais 42% over 75000€
Not sure what the point is. Its the forceful taking of money from one possibly corrupt institution and giving it to a definitely corrupt institution.
No because they have to pay their fair share too
lol doesn’t work if they don’t do that and I working for the county get tax reductions on my paycheck so I get less than them
No because I have heard it all my life and know it never really happens
It "triggers" me when liberals think anyone who earns ordinary income is "rich".
Not as much as it used to. I just think too much is made about the "rich" not paying thier fair share so as to draw attention AWAY from our elected officials WASTEFUL spending.
I'm not "triggered". But it's a stupid slogan uttered by ignorant people.
No. They should be taxed at a higher rate. Disgusting some corporations in this country literally pay no taxes at all.
Here's a nice little bit of trivia for you. When a corporation is 'taxed', the amount of that tax is baked into the products you buy. So complaining and wanting companies taxed more means you just want to pay more for the things you buy.
@joeldalton: I still pay taxes on products I buy though.
Quit kissing the butts of super rich people who don't give a damn about you.
These scumbags make several billions in profits and don't give ish back to the country through taxes to support the country's needs.
You almost get it. This isn't kissing ass, this is telling you the truth. YES, hello... you pay sales taxes on the items, and you also pay taxes the company is charged baked into the goods. You should be pissed off about it. The government has fooled you into thinking that they aren't the bad guys (ps they don't give a damn about you, either)
Ok. So here's the deal. You make the statement and firmly believe that "these scumbags" make billions and don't give back in taxes. You admit and claim these are bad people.
So I'm a bad person, a scumbag. I charge $100 for my product. It costs me $50 to produce and I make $50 profit.
Along comes a demcrat who says "WE'RE GOING TO CHARGE 10% MORE TAX ON GREEDY CORPORATIONS!!!"
So if I'm a scumbag, which you claim I am, Which scenario is more likely?
1) I realize the errors of my ways in an Ebenezer Scrooge epiphany and only make $45 in profit now?
or
2) I raise the price of my product to $105 and still keep $50 in profit?
@joeldalton: Listen, chances are you are never going to have 1 million dollars in your bank account much less be a 1% high earner.
Conservative media has brainwashed you conservative fools thinking the super rich are the good guys and decent moral people when in reality they are the biggest a-holes around and that will purposely screw things up on Wallstreet or whatever they can to profit off the misfortune of others i. e. the housing market of 2007.
I don't need the government to care for me, but I know the country needs funds to fix and maintain certain programs etc and that's through taxes is done.
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy did you notice I asked you an A/B question and you avoided it? Which do you think would happen?
Because it never happens. It is just code speak for raising taxes on everybody.
The rich can and do avoid taxes and in some cases simply pass them on to the low and middle class.
Because greedy lazy fuckheads don’t understand economics and watch too much goddamn tv
Yea but most rich don't pay more taxes they actually pay less
No it doesn’t I don’t make $1 million a year
Not triggered, but not a good plan because it won't happen.
Economically even the rich should want hirer taxes on themselves. If theyre smart.
Yes. Because i work my arse off and im being robbed off the fruits of labour of my hard work.
Make then pay their share... Then maybe we can afford to live like humans again.
No, it does not trigger me. Be free to tax rich leftists as much as you want, and remove loopholes they use to avoid paying their taxes
It does trigger me
Maybe because I'm not rich? LOL
yeah because I am rich, why do you want my money?
I fully support the Robin Hood law.
we all have to pay at some point!!!
