Should I believe him if he drunk texted me to tell me he likes me?

I stopped talking to him because he is hot and cold. Today he texted me and sent me a voice message to tell me he likes me and appreciates me and he doesn’t want me to be mad at him.
He told me that he likes me sober but then became cold. He used to called me everyday to check on me.

he’s a very respectful guy who barely drinks but is kinda cold.

A guy gets embarrassed by really expressing his feelings to her until he feels she wants him the same way , What most girls don’t realize about a guy that has had his heart crushed before, is that it is hard for him to fully trust a girl that doesn’t make him a priority and doesn’t make him feel wanted , A guy isn’t going to commit to a girl that prioritizes everyone else over him , when a guy shuts down and doesn’t express his feelings to her it’s because he is hurting inside , he is afraid that she is losing interest in him , Most girls assume he must be cheating on me or he likes someone else and sadly that isn’t true for the most part , he just wants her to respect him and make him a priority , A guy doesn’t give his heart to a girl to be single , he gives his heart to a girl that looks up to him and makes him feel wanted and appreciated and respected , that looks up to him and feels safe and secure with him , a guy that loves his girl is going to protect her at all costs , he doesn’t want a girl that chooses everyone else over him , When a guy tells his girl he doesn’t trust her friends or he doesn’t like her going to bars and clubs without him , she looks at it as he is being insecure and he doesn’t trust me , sadly that isn't the case , he feels like she doesn’t respect him anymore and doesn’t find him desirable , a guy wants a girl that wears his shoes like she should be wearing his or it won worn , when a guy doesn’t care that his girl is going out all the time without him , it means he is probably up to no good himself and doesn’t truly value her so don’t be fooled , When someone loves you and cares about you they make you a priority and they expect the same in return , if they aren’t receiving the same in return then they slowly start walking away and shutting down because they feel they aren’t respected anymore and sadly that’s opening doors to allow someone else to enter giving them them the opportunity to give him what he isn’t receiving , whether he acts on it or not You are allowing doors to be open. Cheating is a selfish act period , We all have selfishness in us , for love to grow between 2 people you both have to make each other your top priority and remove selfishness for each other , understand you can’t always be right and they are wrong , understand you aren’t single anymore , understand it’s you and your partner VS the world , if you can’t do that for your partner then you are best not to get into a relationship period because you will only be wasting your time and theirs. Most guys assume a girl has a lot of options that she can easily pick and choose what she wants , to get her interest he tries to get her to notice him over all the other guys , A guy has options s well but he is only going to choose the girl that makes him a priority and makes him feel wanted , bottom line when you commit to someone make them your top priority over everyone and remove selfishness , love will more than likely grow between you both

Just because someone might like you, it doesn't mean they are ready to accept and support ALL parts of you.

If he doesn't have the courage to tell you he likes you sober or offer to ask you out properly, I think if be worried about his ability to handle problems or difficult discussions down the line. Does he handle with his problems head on and initiate difficult but important conversations, or does he react in emotional word vomit when things don't go his way?

It depends in the context. Have you dated? How long? did you have sex? ... etc. Sometimes guys get drunk and will text a girl they like, or a girl they know they can hook up with because it has happened before and they did not get any action wherever they went to. So, again, it depends on the context.
