I am new to this place and I just started answering questions because it seemed interesting, but I still have not figured how it works or what it is?

Thanks all, for ur response. Firstly, I knew it's not a game, ( that's just a figure of speech), But u answered my question fully. The only very funny think is, I never joined GAG, I was just on google and I saw a question that I thought I was answering in an impersonal and anonymous way. I just thought it was a one off kind of thing , so I just fired off. I never knew it was and all was part of the same thing. In fact quite embarrassing.

When you first get here, they toss ads at you and, after you get a certain amount of points, you don't get ads anymore and I think you get one or two other benefits from it but, it's been so long since I've been there, I forget what they are. After you get so far, you're upgraded to a slightly higher status and each level takes longer to get an upgrade. After a certain level is reached, I don't know which one, you can choose to become a moderator. Other than that, from what I can see, you get nothing out of it other than being able to ask and answer questions or write a My Take if you feel like it. after I stepped into the level I'm on now several months ago and found that I get NOTHING for it, I stopped worrying about getting more points!! I just ask or answer what I want and no longer worry about the points I get from any of it. I've been here at this level for almost half a year, now and there's STILL no signs of progress on my progress bar, even though I've inadvertently earned a lot more points!
I, mostly, just come here to have SOME contact with the outside world!! I've been an inadvertent hermit for the last 2 years.
I would say that, you should collect as many points as you can `til you can get up to the 2nd or 3rd level and then, don't worry about it, anymore. Just ask and answer questions as you wish. The other points after that point, don't really matter. It's no better than a video game.
