This guy who I really have no opinion of has exhibited attention seeking behavior and most of the time I ignore him. Back in November, he walked by my desk at school and pointed at what I was drawing. I've been into all things visual art since I was young, so I doodle all over my school notebooks. He complimented my art but used the word "actually" so I just looked at him and said "Actually?", but I don't think he heard me because I'm quite with my biting responses. Then, after him barely interacting with besides moving his chair and sitting right behind me (I'm at the back of the room, so that's weird), my doodling came up again. He sits in front of me, and a girl who was sitting near him, asked for help, saw my drawing of some lion, and proceeded to compliment me. Several people surrounded me and complimented me, all seeming very shocked, and I shoved a paper over the doodle after thanking them and proceeded to help the girl with math. Then, towards the end of the head of "that's so good" comments all around, the guy who's been acting strange this whole time says to his friend, "I told you," in clear reference to my drawing abilities. I'm very, very confused, and I don't know what to think. Tell me what you think.
It sounds like you're extremely talented but shy about it. He probably mentioned how good your drawing was to his friend but since you're shy about it, others probably haven't noticed. So when everyone did notice he was like "see I told you she's really good at drawing". It's a positive thing!
I don't think he meant anything bad by using the word "actually", maybe he was just suprised and that's just how it came out. I do that sometimes when I'm impressed by someone's skills. I don't mean it in a bad way, moreso a way of me thinking "damn I really didn't expect that but that's like super good".
I wouldn't say it really means much other than he was appreciating your talent and wanted to tell others about your talent so they could appreciate it too. You should try to showcase your skills more often :) I'm sure it would bring in a lot of positive attention and maybe even give you more confidence

I don't understand what you are confused about? Why is him saying 'actually' of any importance?
