Why do people expect others to be able to multitask and look at everyone who passes them AND walk AND say hi to everyone they pass?

Dammit. Is it just me? Cause I can’t focus on walking and thinking about something like at work and passing all my coworkers and looking at their faces and saying hi too. Even in the street. Like one guy got annoyed cause I never see him on my way to work. Chile what?

It is important to slow down and speak to others in passing as it makes them feel as if they have Value…. Ultimately, this can be helpful in your completion success as your peers are more likely to entertain your circumstance having already been valued by you.

I get that you have purpose, focused on task at hand, and do not handle abrupt interruption when on mission.-This seems more normal than abnormal too me.

The problem is, there's no such thing as multitasking.

If they say "hi" while walking, then they don't think of anything else during the time it takes to say "hi".

Walking and speaking is not considered as multitasking because this is a natural occurrence. It is like an automatism just like breathing.

Thus, don't feel bad if you cannot do it. If you could be truly multitasking, then you would be the center of attention of medical studies and be somebody famous for being able to do what no one else can do.

I think because most people do do this. At least, they used to more before phones. But, most people while they're walking through the office greet other people. Same thing in smaller towns, etc. Not saying you have to if you can't or won't but many people can and so their expectation is passed on.
