How do you deal with trolls?

Not too long ago, I asked a fairly vanilla question. One of the opinions seemed like it might be interesting but was unclear. I asked the author to explain and he immediately launched into insults and factually incorrect statements. After 2 or 3 back and forth exchanges, I ignored him.

What would you have done?

Depends on the topic and my energy level. I might respond in kind if they're really annoying but the best course of action is probably to ignore them. Trolls thrive on the attention you give them, just look at Elon Musk. Despite his massive following it's not enough, he had Twitter engineers change their algorithm to automatically boost the visibility of his posts by a factor of 1,000.

I haven't blocked anyone on here as I think it's just weak to censor yourself from the views of others but some people aren't worth your time.

People online want to matter but they dont. Just block the toxicity. In person we’d hash it out until we agree to disagree but afterwards, i’d still distance myself from such negative energy afterwards

Depends on my mood. I might troll them back or I might just silence them if I don't want to deal with thier f***ery at that moment.
