This happend once on ig while we were dming and he is playful with me while we text like by going along with my jokes and keeping the conversation light. He also likes so many of my texts and compliments me and sometimes tries to show himself off and asks me lots of questions.. Is this still in the friend zone or is there potential of growing into like more of a talking stage?

I would say in this instance , bro ( probably ) means like " mate " , but you are very young , and I assume he is also , so it could be just an expression..

If I were saying to someone , it would certainly mean " friend , mate , only " , but he may not think this way on account of his age.
