Would you say a guy is not interested if he keeps the text conversation going but sometimes takes hours to reply?

If he wasn't interested he would not reply, unless he's being nice in which case he may reply with short messages and try not to continue to conversation, however if he is continuing the conversation he has some sort of interest, it's not possible to tell how interested with the information I have alone, but if he isn't replying for hours it doesn't mean he's not interested, he could be busy. If he works he wouldn't be on his phone, if he's studying or hanging out with his friends it's the same thing. But generally if a guy is interested in you he will always respond. From what it sounds like, taking only 'hours' to reply is actually quite fast, if it were days it would be a different story.

Most men I know are bad texters. I am a bad texter. I don’t even like texting. I can text often, but the conversation might be dry, or I can text every so often to check in.
I’d say if he is giving an effort in general to keep the convo even when there’s nothing to talk about, he’s interested. If it gets dry, he probably isn’t or you’d need to meet in person.. but me going solely based off text would mean I’d have to evaluate my own texting habits.. which suck lol.

If he wasn't interested, he wouldn't text you or respond to your texts. If he's keeping the conversation going, he at least does like talking to you. Whether he likes you romantically or not depends on other factors. It doesn't matter if he takes a longer time to respond. People are busy and aren't constantly glued to their phones. He may be working, sleeping, or just doing other things. If he responds when he's able to, then that's good enough.

What if it’s a case where the guy usually responds quicker but overtime the reply time becomes longer?

He could have something going on, he could be drawing back because he's nerves and afraid he's being too clingy, or he may be losing interest. There are a lot of other factors to consider with each scenario. The fact that he is still replying is a good sign.

Then he is probably still keeping you as an option and you should cut him out. You deserve better and don't need to keep someone around who's just playing games.
