Why did my male doctor do this?

He was checking the back of my scalp and instead of standing directly behind me he stood to the side of me to check it when everyone else would naturally check from behind

With all the insane malpractice and sexual assault accusations going on in not only medicine but in every field today, it may have had something to do with his fear of being accused of something. I had a similar experience a year or two ago when I took my mother to a dermatologist and the doctor seemed hesitant to check something on her back that I asked him about.

My father was a doctor. And even though he retired many years ago, towards the end of his career the crazy malpractice suits had already started. He began trying to protect himself and one of the things they did is to never be alone in an exam or treatment room without a female nurse being present. That way they have a female witness about what happened in the room.

So this kind of thing can lead to strange behaviors between male doctors and female patients. May possibly be related to that.

That is the exact thought that came to my mind when I was writing my comment but I took it out. Because maybe he thought if he would be behind you, you would think "God knows what he's looking at when I cannot see him".

Exactly my point. If he's visible he can't be accused of anything and the patient is comfortable

Maybe his vision is different than everyone else's
