I'm a loyal customer at a cattle ranch. I recently asked to buy a cow for the same price I usually do and the owner said no. Should I shop elsewhere?

Long story short, I'm a loyal customer and always buy all of my cattle and dogs from him. He sold me the last two calf's for 650 and 600 each a few months ago. I recently messaged him again asking for one more and he said $800 😅 I offered him 600 like I usually do and he rejected my offer with no hesitation. I thanked him for his time and kept it moving. Then he messaged me again justifying his answer by saying it was a bull calf and not a female but I didn't open or replied.

Anyways, is it time for me to start shopping elsewhere? Yes, I feel a little hurt because I always buy all of my animals from him... hurt me that he didn't even bother considering my offer since I always buy from him.

Nah negotiation with him, he came back to you which means business ain't booming, you might have the leverage, say you have always settled with his ranch in the 600 Range, if he seems iffy, throw that 650 in, he might take it, if it doesn't work, then you go somewhere else.

You know what... If he would have made a counteroffer of 650 or even 700 I would've accepted but he flat out said no the first time. Then when I thanked him for his time anyways he comes back replying saying it was a bull and not a female. Like... why did he even bother at that point. So, yeah... I was definitely salty when he flat out said no the first time. I was salty because I always buy from him and he didn't bother meeting me half way.

That's cause he is trying to play the lady like a fool, that's called a finesse but the fact that he hit you back up shows that his business isn't doing so well and that's when you should swoop in and counter finesse

To be honest, I was definitely hurt. If I were on his shoes and I knew the one offering is a solid loyal customer that always buys from me I would accept with no hesitation. I guess his train of thought is elsewhere... oh well. I guess I rather just shop elsewhere.

See and that's where I don't see eye to eye with him. I'm growing my own cattle farm and if I come across a loyal customer that's constantly buying from me... I'd make an exception for that person. $600 wasn't much of a low ball either for him to flat out say no. He could've met me at some point and I would've agreed. Ehhh that's on him. I'll just buy elsewhere.

Inflation lol your price moths ago don't justify a low price here meh maybe it's just a difference of view but again if u was 200 pound lower then the asking price and he ain't into haggling then it is what it is

No he's right to charge a higher price as beef prices are up 20% since last year, and the extra for a bull calf would make the $800 about right for the current market, your letting your emotions get involved with business.

Maybe but then again... he didn't even bother negotiating at first. If he would've came back and said...650-700, I would've agreed with no hesitation but he flat out said no. It hurt because I always go to him for all of my purchases. I get it though.
