Sounds like you are literally saying, hey you're a nice guy, and if nothing better comes along them maybe down like line you might have a chance to get a sniff, but not likely.

I mean it would be much nicer honestly if said, I really love our friendship, but I just do not see any chance for an intimate relationship. Then if something changes down the line you act on it then. But honestly, it's kind of insulting to go with what you have right now.
