Criticism involves critique of your work, which means specifics and, generally, improvement suggestions.

That person's just shitting on your work.

I still like to listen to feedback like that, because if it doesn't tell me small details of what I could improve, it gives me ammo to use against the bully. They're likely to project their own insecurities, so listen for those. Then do with that info what you will.

It’s criticism but they should’ve included some positive criticism too. My creative writing teacher says use the sandwich method: one bad thing sandwiched between two good things.

The idea is that its "critical" that you make x changes.

Without that intent, its just an opinion.
