Doesn't how tall you are and how tall he is. So if he's like 6 ft tall and you're like five two, he's calling you a pretty little thing. Why is he calling you that?

Because you're pretty, and you're short meaning your little thing and he's trying to be playful. And he probably thinks it sounds cute not realizing he's talking to a woman that's going to overthink something as simple as that and go to places he never imagined with it.
