Why would someone stop and watch you walking by?

I was walking and smiling to myself when I noticed an elderly couple stop and looking at me. I didn’t do anything weird so why were they staring?

Elderly people have a common sense way of being a people watcher and trust me they mean nothing by it my late maternal grandparents loved people, would people watch, and they would see this woman and view her actions, and they would do this with all the neighbors and this is why they were loved by many of them and trust me people have their ways of being watch and elderly people are set in their ways, grandma had her favorite stores to shop at and one time this elderly woman had long gray hair and grandma would say to me, hey Darren did you see that old woman with long gray hair and I said yeah grandma, and she never met anything by that at all. I love all my grandparents and how I miss them, but I have to let them rest and go on with life.

Nothing serious. They most likely looked because, you looked familiar, or something drew their attention to you. It is sort of natural for people to look towards smiling faces too

Yeah but it’s unusual to stop walking to stare at someone like at an animal in a zoo.

Maybe you did do something that caught their eye and you didn't realize you did it. Maybe they thought they knew you because you look like someone they know. Maybe they were actually looking at something else. I can't mind read so I have no clue why they would. I guess in the end what does it matter? Is this so bothersome that you have to post about it? Just move on about your day and ignore them. Problem solved.
