What if a guy calls you motherfucker at work?

I went through this exact situation at TWO former jobs. One was a supervisor, the other a colleague.
Was it the first time he said something like that? Talk to him
privately and say you don't appreciate being disrespected and there are better ways to communicate whatever issue he has with you. DO NOT threaten with HR at this point, one incident usually isn't enough to get them involved. This is important: document what happened in detail where, when, what was said verbatim, context, witnesses, EVERYTHING. If he does it again document it again, and take it straight to HR. This was how I handled it both times, and both of the fuckers I mentioned above were FIRED.

i work in healthcare and hadda patient say that more then once abusive for no reason its a hospital not a wait staff. they screamed it like an idiot, finally i said i never touched your mother!! i like guys only!!! 😂 the patient was stunned/shocked and didn't know what to say after that, but the staff pissed themselves laughing and clapped. they never said it again

I'd get my phone, hit the record, and ask him to repeat what he just said. Not make it obvious. Most areas you can legally record as long as one person consents.

Then go to HR and make sure loser doesn't have a job by the end of the day.

And if HR refuses to do anything then I'd go on benefits - workplace harassment, etc. makes you eligible for such in most areas - while looking for another job. If this behavior is repeat and/or HR implies that this is a repeat problem with the guy... well USA you can get sued for sneezing on someone so why not sue the trashy company that hired him?
