What does it mean when a guy smiles when you say something to him?

I’ve been friends with benefits with a guy for a year now. Recently I made a comment about how I get to come over have coffee and relax. He didn’t say anything but I saw him smiling. When it was time for me to leave he was standing at the car. He had one hand in his pocket and the other one was on the door. I saw him look at the side of the car and I said what? He said he was just checking himself out. I just looked and didn’t say anything and I looked away. And then he said drive safe and closed the door. I think he may have wanted a hug maybe? I don’t read body language well.

He just enjoys your company and likes you but it doesn't have to be in romantic way, you can like and love a person in many different ways (like family, as family, as a person, as a friend, more than friend but not lover etc) but you can only be in love in one way. Like the person below said don't read to much into it, he can even truly love you but simply doesn't have that in love spark with you.
