Well, I'm just being honest here, he probably doesn't have a crush on you. I'm simply saying this based off of the information provided; if there's more you should state it. It's a normal thing, a lot of people tend to smile and especially when they're talking to someone , it's also shows them as being friendly
It is hard to say without being there but it could well mean nothing other than he is just a friendly guy. If he was looking at you with lingering eye contact then it could be a sign that he maybe interested. I would keep a look out for any other signs he might be interested.
Sounds like he's interested in your or crushing but still could just be being polite
