Is it bad to date a 18 y/o at 23? Why do my friends keep saying my partner is “still a baby” at 18?

If you want to date a 16 years old, you have my blessing to do that too. Some of my aunts and uncles married as early as 13 years old and lived good lives.

It wasn't until a few decades ago that State and Federal governments passed laws requiring you to be 18 to give consent for sex and marriage, which the Constitution does not give them the power to do, by the way. The Tenth Amendment says any Governmental power not specifically allocated in the Constitution is reserved to the People.

People who infantilize adults are promoting pedophile. As it is legal to have sex with an 18 year old. However, it isn't with a child. Yet by classifying someone over 18 as a child you open up a grey area where you can legally have sex with a child (those that are over 18). You now have a group of people who were having sex with young adults; thinking that it is okay to have sex with children (at least ones that are over 18). Eventually this group will start to cross over the legal line at 18 and move younger and younger. This is why you shouldn't treat or call young adults children.

Sorry for the rant, but no it isn't bad to date an 18 y/o at 23. Your friends are assholes for suggesting that it is.

It’s fine. Your friends aren’t too bright. Do what makes you happy as long as it’s legal. Maybe they’re jealous cause you met someone. I don’t know their situation maybe they’re all single.
