I work in an office with an older guy, like 68 years old. He is always saying to people, that donuts go a long way if they want something done. We have had people show up with donuts for him.

But honestly, I would not buy him a breakfast, I think that sends the wrong message.

Sounds like he is trying to be flirtatious, and you might not be as responsive as he would like. So he asking for breakfast, because it gives him something to say to you every day that you do not buy him breakfast... so he has a reason to talk to him...

At the same time if you buy the breakfast, then he might take that as a sign that you are interested or that you actually cared enough to buy him a breakfast. Which you can say you cared enough to make him stop... but he will probably not stop regardless.
