Me and my guy friend talked for like 3 hours straight for the first time although he doesn’t like texting, I was surprised actually when I found out that it has been 3 hours

Honestly it depends, i can talk hours and hours with a friend of mine. I don't like her romantically but there's another friend on which I have a crush on and we don't talk hours. So messed up but it's not really a hard and fast rule about it. Why don't I talk hours with the girl I like? Well because she don't reply to me that often so that's I don't text her that often she's just a friend for now because I was never able to pass that barrier, she never gave me a chance. However, if she did, I must've asked her out. The other friend who I don't like, she likes me a lot, anyways, long story short, sometimes it's messed up, always remember that it's a two way street!

If I am interested in a woman I am not wasting three hours to text her for that long. I save the talking for a date and the only interaction would be a brief check in and to see if she is able to go on a date. That's it.

If you are friends it makes sense, but if you are trying to date, that does more harm than good.

Maybe. Maybe he just likes having you to talk to. I used to have a very dear friend that I'd chat with online for hours on end every night! If she wanted to be my girlfriend, I don't think I'd have much of a problem with that (except that I'm nearly 2' taller than her) but, except for the first few minutes after we met, I've never had an urge to make her my girlfriend. I tend to see her as the little sister I've never had. It's up to her to take it farther than that.

However if he never does that, then he's definitely not interested.
I will talk longer than that to just friends, but while I'm not attracted to them, I do need to be best friends with a woman I find physically attractive to even want to be with her.
