I love cats. Female cats only. They are more docile. Cats are more independent. Cats don’t require so much responsibility. I like my cats to be indoor/outdoor. I have them spayed. I refuse to have them declawed. You don’t always have to feed a cat. Cats can hunt their food. Cats can be trained to use a toilet. Google it. A lot of women are attracted to men that have a cat. Cats are a window into a man’s personality. I like dogs too but they are too loud, if you keep them indoors all the time, you must let them out to relieve themselves. You can’t leave a dog alone for very long. Dogs are more likely to get hit by a car. Dogs can be destructive. Dogs can be a liability. Dogs can be annoying. Dogs eat more. You must always feed a dog.
The other thing I love about female cats is that they have taught me a lot about women. Seriously, if you are a guy trying to figure out women, get a female cat.

I have a theory but not sure how to explain it. Preface: if you understood any of the following from it than it came out wrong and I was not able to communicate it in the right way. I am mot saying: girls dont care about cats nor that guys do all the work.
I feel guys are more caring when it comes to cats while girls are often more on the playfull side with them. I feel more guys can passively enjoy a cat. While I or more girls feel the need to interact with them.
Guys always want them to feel good even they are completly fine it seems to be a focus from them and they understand better that sometimes they just want to be a cat first and pet second. . Girls obviously want them to be fine too but we dont think about it as long as they are fine. They are part of the family and therefore they need inclusion is a thing more girls would focus on.
Thats my theory it was formed by knowing me and my husband and observing catowners in my family and friends group. It obviously won't be true for everyone. Maybe for some at least the direction is true. Its not an on off situation but a scale and can be true to different degrees.
Obviously I could also be completly false and that it onoy fits into my obersations and they are all the exception.

I think you are on to something here. I never actively sought out rec time with my two kitties. I let them come to me when I was relaxing etc. and they always did. They also slept on my bed with me almost every night. (one ALWAYS did, the other one most of the time.)
"Caring" in this context sounds like men get to do the grunt work of making sure pets stay alive while everyone else gets the fun time.
I appreciate my father more now because he was saddled with the same things. He made sure our pets were sustained and he was the one to handle them when they had to be disposed of. That man did more than I realized for our happiness.

People who have never owned pets usually have no clue how much work and $$$ pet ownership requires. Puppies are pretty much life changing, at least for a few months.

My wife and I love cats.
I happened to rescue one moments from certain death in the middle of a highway just a couple months after we were married. I brought her home and we named her Rosecrans for the highway she was on. We called her Rose or Rosie.
The vet said she was about 5 weeks old.
We moved 3 times with her and always kept her indoors. She turned into the best kitty ever and lived for almost exactly 22 years. We loved her so much.
Once we were in our new home in the country, we adopted two more older cats from an animal rescue. We let them out during the day to eat mice and voles in the garden and brought them in at night. They were also great cats.
When they passed away, we adopted to more.
When they passed away, we got a 6 year old, full-blooded Burmese from some people who were moving. She's brown so we named her Coco. We let her out during the day, too. She weighs 5 lbs and has a build like a panther.
We still had her when Rosie passed away in Dec. 2019.
In 2021, my wife adopted a 6 week old, marmalade-orange, part Main Coon. We named him POTUS or Poatie for short. We keep him indoors because he is super fluffy and gets stuff in his fur. He now weighs 16.5 lbs. LOL
So now we have Coco and Poatie.
Coco is about 18 now and went blind in January, so we keep her indoors. She's still a happy kitty, though. She can find her food and water bowls and litter box.
Our previous kitties are buried in our little cat cemetery in our back yard. Their graves have markers. Kiri, Sofi, Tinker, Cassie and Rosie. We live on 30 acres.
We loved them all and gave them the best home.
I love my cats more than anything else in this world. I really don't care about other people all that much, but even the thought of something cruel happening to any cat makes me sad and angry.
In the past, I used to take them along with me when I did my work throughout the day. They would ride in the car with me for eight or ten hours, one in the passengers side and one in the back seat.
I dont like being more than a couple hours away from them. I will not go anywhere even overnight without them. If I can't take then with me somewhere, then I will not go.
My cats generally sleep, one on my side and one at my feet or on my other side. I have two female cats right now, a calico and a tortoiseshell, and I think that might explain part of it.
I have noticed that male cats tend to have a more intensely connected relationship with female owners, and I think vice versa is true as well. I would say my girls act like they are bonded to me.
Some women even have the assumption that a man who likes cats is somehow gay or at least asexual.
Maybe guys who do like cats are more likely to be these things, I don't know, but I do know there are men who are as close to cats as women are.
People who say cats are easier or are less connected simply haven't built that connection with a cat.

But I swear whenever there is a domestic cat around it always makes a beeline for me. Without fail. Just had this happen yesterday visiting a friends place. She claims her cat dislikes everyone else but the thing would just could not get away from me.
They’re good for hanging around the property like barn cats. They catch rodents and scare off some stray animals. They’re livelier when they live outside. I don’t prioritize them for affection. I keep them fed and occasionally pet them. I don’t want them in my bed or watching me shower or crap like that. I wouldn’t want them around my niece or nephew as infants while they were infants.

Guys prefer dogs, cats are great but rather narcisstic imho, eg - you prepare a nice meal for a dog, they scoff it up, give them the same next day and they're like "wow! this is the same as I had yesterday!" cats might hiss at you for serving the same meal twice, bit like women really!
Guys definitely seem to favour dogs more than cats. I've always loved both, but in the past few years I've definitely gained more respect for cats, I think I can relate to them more lol.
When I was a pet owner I've always had cats. They are WAY easier to take care of and offer intrinsic rewards to the owner. I don't mind someone else's well behaved leashed dog.

I don’t mind cats, but even the tamest scratch or nip occasionally. Rabbits are much more chill and you can do your own thing while sitting next to one and pet it occasionally without it jumping onto you or shoving itself into your face (in the best case scenario) in my experience. They’re fun to play with though.
I had a French Lop rabbit that used to jump on my chest when she wanted attention. She weighed 6 kg so that was quite an alarm clock.
My family’s rabbit is of a similar size and enjoys being pet, but seems to pick up better on boundaries. When we first got him for example, I would carry him out of my room if he came in and now he doesn’t go into it in the first place, and he also stays out of the kitchen and hates the outdoors. They’re creatures of habit and territorial like cats, but I get the impression that they have a better understanding of other creatures’ territories than cats do once you demonstrate the boundary to them by taking them away from there a few times, maybe because they’re more social and live in large groups.
