It HEAVILY depends on the context.
I call girls "endearing" names often, just a (probably bad) habit I picked up somewhere along the way.
I find ots mostly only when I like *something* about them. Doesn't mean I'm interested in a relationship or anything, but just kind of like complimentary?
Thinking about it, probably comes off sexist? Dunno. I do the same thing for guys. Call them "bro", "boss", "my man" sort of stuff.
Depends on context, I’m from the south east areas of the USA. That could mean many different things. And FYI to everyone everywhere else, if an older southern woman says “bless your heart,” it ain’t a compliment.
These are what I'd refer to as "Pet names".
Nicknames used as a special term for a person of significance.
Things like "Sugar", "Honey", "Babe", etc.
